TL;DR

There's no single best place to mine. The US offers mature, competitive hosting around 4.5¢/kWh and deep infrastructure. The Nordics combine cold air and hydro power at 4.4¢. The Gulf offers gas power and business-friendly rules at about 4.2¢. Africa has the cheapest hosting on our board, from 3.6¢, with more logistics and policy risk. Latin America brings hydro around 4.8¢. Choose the balance of price, climate and risk that fits your plans.

"Where's the cheapest power?" is the first question most miners ask. It's a good question, but not the only one. Climate, grid reliability, logistics and politics all change what that power really costs.

Below, we compare the main mining regions using hosting offers listed on CryptoSites.io in October 2026.

North America

Hosting on our board: Georgia, South Carolina, Houston, Texas, Kansas and New York, almost all at 4.5 to 4.55¢/kWh. Canada hydro at 4.76¢. A US multi-site offer at 5.5¢ with no service fees.

Strengths: the deepest mining industry in the world, with experienced operators, technicians, spare parts and financing. Clear legal frameworks and strong property rights. In Texas, opportunities to earn from flexibility on the grid.

Watch out for: hot summers in the South, local noise rules, and competition from AI data centers for the same power.

The Nordics

Hosting on our board: Arctic Norway (100% hydro) and Finland (grid and wind), both at 4.4¢/kWh.

Strengths: cold air does much of the cooling work for free, hydro and wind power are low-carbon, and grids are stable.

Watch out for: policy debates about mining's use of power, higher costs for staff and buildings, and long winters for logistics.

The Middle East

Hosting on our board: Dubai and Abu Dhabi at 4.2¢/kWh, gas-powered, with air and hydro cooling.

Strengths: business-friendly jurisdictions, modern infrastructure and good logistics.

Watch out for: extreme summer heat, which makes hydro or immersion cooling important.

Africa

Hosting on our board: Nigeria (gas) at 3.6¢/kWh and Ethiopia (hydro) at 3.99¢, the two cheapest hosting offers we have.

Strengths: the lowest power prices on our board, and fast-growing capacity.

Watch out for: policy can change quickly, logistics for shipping and repairs take longer, and currency and payment questions need answering before you sign.

Latin America

Hosting on our board: Brazil and Paraguay, both hydro, at 4.83¢/kWh.

Strengths: large hydro resources and growing mining industries.

Watch out for: import duties and logistics for hardware, and seasonal changes in hydro output.

Central Asia and Europe

Our board also lists Kazakhstan at 4.9¢/kWh on a 7-year prepaid rate, and Czechia at 6.65¢, the most expensive hosting we have. Long prepaid commitments can lower the rate, but they also lock you in.

How to choose

  1. Start with your break-even power price, then shortlist regions comfortably below it.
  2. Adjust for climate. Hot regions need better cooling, which costs money or uptime.
  3. Price in the risk. A cheaper rate in a less predictable place has to be worth it.
  4. Think about logistics. How fast can a failed board be repaired or replaced?
  5. Spread your machines. Several regions can protect you from one outage or one policy change.

The bottom line

The best place to mine is the one where the price, the climate and the risk add up for your plans. For some miners that's the steady, competitive US market. For others it's Nordic hydro, Gulf gas or the lowest prices in Africa. Compare all of it, not just the rate per kWh.
