What would this coin earn you?
How this coin is mined
The original proof-of-work coin. SHA-256 ASICs secure it, a new block lands about every 10 minutes, and the block subsidy halves every 210,000 blocks (about every four years). Next halving: around April 2028.
Mining this coin: FAQ
Is Bitcoin mining profitable right now?
At 5¢/kWh the most profitable Bitcoin miner today, the Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U, earns about $61.45 a day and burns $13.22 of electricity, leaving about $48.23 a day. 160 of 248 SHA-256 miners we track are profitable at that price. Set your own power price above and the whole page recalculates.
What is the best miner for Bitcoin?
Ranked by profit per day at 5¢/kWh: Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U ($48.23/day, 1.16 PH/s at 11,020 W), MicroBT WhatsMiner M79S ($47.51/day, 1.35 PH/s at 20,000 W), Bitdeer SealMiner A4 Ultra Hydro ($36.88/day, 886 TH/s at 8,372 W). The most efficient machine we track is the Bitdeer SealMiner A4 Ultra Hydro at 9.45 J/TH; cheap power favours raw hashrate, expensive power favours efficiency, so the order changes with your price.
At what electricity price does Bitcoin mining stop paying?
At today's price and difficulty the Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U breaks even at about 23¢ per kWh: above that it costs more to run than it earns. Pool fees (usually 1-4%), cooling and any hosting margin come on top, so plan with a buffer. Of the 248 machines we track, 195 are in profit at 3¢/kWh, 144 at 6¢ and 109 at 10¢, which is why miners chase cheap power.
How long does a Bitcoin miner take to pay for itself?
The fastest payback at 5¢/kWh is the Bitmain Antminer S21 Pro (234Th): about $702.30 for the machine, $8.19 profit a day, so roughly 3 months if price and difficulty stayed where they are today. The top earner, the Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U, costs $15,499 and pays back in about 11 months. In practice difficulty usually rises as new machines ship, so real payback is longer; a falling coin price stretches it further, a rally shortens it.
How much BTC does one miner make per day?
The Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U, at 1.16 PH/s, mines about 0.00074 BTC a day today, worth $61.45. That is 0.00012% of the network's 952 EH/s. The whole network mints about 454.0 BTC a day ($37.55M), and every miner earns its share of hashrate.
Should I mine Bitcoin solo or in a pool?
On its own, one Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U would find a Bitcoin block about once every 16 years on average, and luck can stretch that a long way. That is why almost everyone mines in a pool: the pool finds blocks every day and pays each miner by its share of the work. FPPS and PPS+ pools pay a fixed amount per share (fees often 2-4%), PPLNS pools pay out only when the pool finds a block (often 0-2%, but lumpier).
How do Bitcoin's block rewards and supply work?
Right now each block pays about 3.148 BTC including fees, with a block every 10 minutes on average, about 454.0 BTC a day. 19.97 million of the 21.00 million maximum are already out (95%). The subsidy fell to 3.125 BTC at the April 2024 halving and drops to 1.5625 BTC at the next one, expected around April 2028. Difficulty retargets every 2,016 blocks (about two weeks), so a wave of new machines cuts everyone's earnings at the next adjustment. Transaction fees come on top and swing with demand.
What hardware mines SHA-256, and what matters when buying?
SHA-256 (hashed twice per attempt) is the most competitive mining market there is, and only ASICs have counted since 2013. The main makers are Bitmain (Antminer), MicroBT (WhatsMiner), Canaan (Avalon) and Bitdeer (SealMiner). Air-cooled units are loud (around 75 dB) and need a lot of airflow; hydro (water-cooled) and immersion models pack more hashrate per rack and last longer in hot climates, but need a cooling loop or tank. Most air-cooled machines run on 200-277 V, many hydro models on 380-415 V three-phase. The same machines mine Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, eCash, Fractal Bitcoin, Peercoin and the SHA-256 sides of DigiByte and Quai: switching is just a pool change. We track 248 SHA-256 machines; judge them by J/TH (efficiency) against your power price, then by price per TH, cooling type and the warranty and repair options where you will run them.
What does a 1 MW Bitcoin mining site earn?
One megawatt of power runs about 90 Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U units. At 5¢/kWh that is roughly $131,946 a month in profit before pool fees, cooling overhead and staff, for about $1.39M of machines. Site profit is very sensitive to the power price: every 1¢/kWh costs about $7,296 a month at one megawatt. CryptoSites.io lists powered land, container farms and hosting with the power price on every listing.
How do I start mining Bitcoin?
Pick a machine for your power price (see the table above), then sort out power and cooling: most ASICs need 200-277 V at 10-30 A each, hydro models usually 380-415 V three-phase and a cooling loop, and air-cooled units are too loud for a home. Set up a Bitcoin wallet, point the machine at a pool, and watch temperatures in the first days. If you don't have cheap power and space, hosting is the usual route: a host runs the machine for an all-in price per kWh. CryptoSites.io lists both powered sites and hosting.

NewBitcoin Difficulty Is Down 15% From Its Peak. Should You Buy a Mining Site Now?
Lower difficulty means each machine earns more bitcoin. But difficulty follows hashrate, and hashrate can come back fast. Here's how to price a site on a range, not on today's number.

Where the World's Hashrate Is Moving in 2026 (and What It Means for Site Prices)
The network stopped shrinking in Q3 2026, but the map underneath it is still changing fast. Developed markets are giving up hashrate to AI, while a group of energy-rich countries keeps absorbing new machines.

Hashprice Near $40: Which Mining Sites Still Make Money (and Which Owners Will Sell)
At about $40 per PH per day, a fleet's efficiency sets a hard ceiling on the electricity cost it can afford. Here's where that ceiling sits, who is under pressure, and what it means for anyone buying a site.
