EthereumPoW (ETHW) split from Ethereum at the Merge in September 2022, when Ethereum moved to proof-of-stake. It kept the full Ethereum history and stayed on proof-of-work.

How this coin is mined

EthereumPoW is mined with Ethash, on GPUs and Ethash ASICs, the same machines that mine Ethereum Classic.

Questions

Mining this coin: FAQ

Is EthereumPoW mining profitable right now?

At 5¢/kWh the most profitable EthereumPoW miner today, the Jasminer X44-P, earns about $33.61 a day and burns $3.06 of electricity, leaving about $30.55 a day. 34 of 41 Ethash miners we track are profitable at that price. Set your own power price above and the whole page recalculates.

What is the best miner for EthereumPoW?

Ranked by profit per day at 5¢/kWh: Jasminer X44-P ($30.55/day, 23.4 GH/s at 2,550 W), Bombax Miner EZ-100 ($18.54/day, 15.5 GH/s at 3,100 W), Bombax ez100 ($15.19/day, 12.5 GH/s at 2,300 W). The most efficient machine we track is the Jasminer X44-P at 109.0 J/GH; cheap power favours raw hashrate, expensive power favours efficiency, so the order changes with your price.

At what electricity price does EthereumPoW mining stop paying?

At today's price and difficulty the Jasminer X44-P breaks even at about 55¢ per kWh: above that it costs more to run than it earns. Pool fees (usually 1-4%), cooling and any hosting margin come on top, so plan with a buffer. Of the 41 machines we track, 38 are in profit at 3¢/kWh, 34 at 6¢ and 22 at 10¢, which is why miners chase cheap power.

How long does an EthereumPoW miner take to pay for itself?

The fastest payback at 5¢/kWh is the Bitmain Antminer E11 (9.5Gh): about $1,908 for the machine, $10.68 profit a day, so roughly 6 months if price and difficulty stayed where they are today. In practice difficulty usually rises as new machines ship, so real payback is longer; a falling coin price stretches it further, a rally shortens it. On a network this small, a few extra machines also push difficulty up fast.

How much ETHW does one miner make per day?

The Jasminer X44-P, at 23.4 GH/s, mines about 134.9 ETHW a day today, worth $33.61. That is 1.0% of the network's 2.27 TH/s. The whole network mints about 13,252 ETHW a day ($3,303), and every miner earns its share of hashrate.

Should I mine EthereumPoW solo or in a pool?

On its own, one Jasminer X44-P would find an EthereumPoW block about once every hour on average, and luck can stretch that a long way. With blocks this frequent, even a single machine gets regular rewards; pools still smooth the payouts. FPPS and PPS+ pools pay a fixed amount per share (fees often 2-4%), PPLNS pools pay out only when the pool finds a block (often 0-2%, but lumpier).

How do EthereumPoW's block rewards and supply work?

Right now each block pays about 2.001 ETHW including fees, with a block every 13 seconds on average, about 13,252 ETHW a day. 107.82 million of the 107.82 million maximum are already out (100%).

What hardware mines Ethash, and what matters when buying?

Ethash (Etchash on Ethereum Classic, which slowed the growth of its dataset in 2020) is memory-hard: every hash reads from a dataset of several gigabytes (the DAG) that keeps growing. GPUs need enough memory to hold it; Ethash ASICs (Bitmain Antminer E9 series, Jasminer) are far more efficient. The same machines mine Ethereum Classic, EthereumPoW and OctaSpace. We track 41 Ethash machines; judge them by J/GH (efficiency) against your power price, then by price per GH, cooling type and the warranty and repair options where you will run them.

Can I run a whole mining site on EthereumPoW?

Not on its own. EthereumPoW's whole network is about 2.27 TH/s, and one megawatt of Jasminer X44-P units would add 9.17 TH/s, several times the network. Difficulty would jump and the earnings shown here would melt away. Large sites point their machines at the biggest coin for the algorithm and treat small coins like EthereumPoW as a side bet for a few units.

How do I start mining EthereumPoW?

Pick a machine for your power price (see the table above), then sort out power and cooling: most ASICs need 200-277 V at 10-30 A each, hydro models usually 380-415 V three-phase and a cooling loop, and air-cooled units are too loud for a home. Set up an EthereumPoW wallet, point the machine at a pool, and watch temperatures in the first days. If you don't have cheap power and space, hosting is the usual route: a host runs the machine for an all-in price per kWh. CryptoSites.io lists both powered sites and hosting.
