Fractal Bitcoin launched in September 2024 as a Bitcoin-compatible scaling chain built from Bitcoin's own code. It runs the same SHA-256 mining with 30-second blocks and is used for inscriptions and other Bitcoin-native assets.

How this coin is mined

A Bitcoin-compatible chain with 30-second blocks, mined with SHA-256 ASICs. Part of its blocks are merge-mined with Bitcoin.

Questions

Mining this coin: FAQ

Is Fractal Bitcoin mining profitable right now?

At 5¢/kWh the most profitable Fractal Bitcoin miner today, the Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U, earns about $43.49 a day and burns $13.22 of electricity, leaving about $30.27 a day. 137 of 248 SHA-256 miners we track are profitable at that price. Set your own power price above and the whole page recalculates.

What is the best miner for Fractal Bitcoin?

Ranked by profit per day at 5¢/kWh: Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U ($30.27/day, 1.16 PH/s at 11,020 W), MicroBT WhatsMiner M79S ($26.61/day, 1.35 PH/s at 20,000 W), Bitdeer SealMiner A4 Ultra Hydro ($23.17/day, 886 TH/s at 8,372 W). The most efficient machine we track is the Bitdeer SealMiner A4 Ultra Hydro at 9.45 J/TH; cheap power favours raw hashrate, expensive power favours efficiency, so the order changes with your price.

At what electricity price does Fractal Bitcoin mining stop paying?

At today's price and difficulty the Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U breaks even at about 16¢ per kWh: above that it costs more to run than it earns. Pool fees (usually 1-4%), cooling and any hosting margin come on top, so plan with a buffer. Of the 248 machines we track, 175 are in profit at 3¢/kWh, 120 at 6¢ and 49 at 10¢, which is why miners chase cheap power.

How long does a Fractal Bitcoin miner take to pay for itself?

The fastest payback at 5¢/kWh is the Bitmain Antminer S21 Pro (234Th): about $702.30 for the machine, $4.56 profit a day, so roughly 5 months if price and difficulty stayed where they are today. The top earner, the Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U, costs $15,499 and pays back in about 17 months. In practice difficulty usually rises as new machines ship, so real payback is longer; a falling coin price stretches it further, a rally shortens it. On a network this small, a few extra machines also push difficulty up fast.

How much FB does one miner make per day?

The Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U, at 1.16 PH/s, mines about 113.2 FB a day today, worth $43.49. That is 0.95% of the network's 122 PH/s. The whole network mints about 12,001 FB a day ($4,612), and every miner earns its share of hashrate.

Should I mine Fractal Bitcoin solo or in a pool?

On its own, one Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U would find a Fractal Bitcoin block about once every hour on average, and luck can stretch that a long way. With blocks this frequent, even a single machine gets regular rewards; pools still smooth the payouts. FPPS and PPS+ pools pay a fixed amount per share (fees often 2-4%), PPLNS pools pay out only when the pool finds a block (often 0-2%, but lumpier).

How do Fractal Bitcoin's block rewards and supply work?

Right now each block pays about 6.250 FB including fees, with a block every 45 seconds on average, about 12,001 FB a day. 84.97 million of the 210.00 million maximum are already out (40%).

What hardware mines SHA-256, and what matters when buying?

SHA-256 (hashed twice per attempt) is the most competitive mining market there is, and only ASICs have counted since 2013. The main makers are Bitmain (Antminer), MicroBT (WhatsMiner), Canaan (Avalon) and Bitdeer (SealMiner). Air-cooled units are loud (around 75 dB) and need a lot of airflow; hydro (water-cooled) and immersion models pack more hashrate per rack and last longer in hot climates, but need a cooling loop or tank. Most air-cooled machines run on 200-277 V, many hydro models on 380-415 V three-phase. The same machines mine Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, eCash, Fractal Bitcoin, Peercoin and the SHA-256 sides of DigiByte and Quai: switching is just a pool change. We track 248 SHA-256 machines; judge them by J/TH (efficiency) against your power price, then by price per TH, cooling type and the warranty and repair options where you will run them.

Can I run a whole mining site on Fractal Bitcoin?

Not on its own. Fractal Bitcoin's whole network is about 122 PH/s, and one megawatt of Bitmain Antminer S23 Hyd 3U units would add 104 PH/s, a large part of it. Difficulty would jump and the earnings shown here would melt away. Large sites point their machines at the biggest coin for the algorithm and treat small coins like Fractal Bitcoin as a side bet for a few units.

How do I start mining Fractal Bitcoin?

Pick a machine for your power price (see the table above), then sort out power and cooling: most ASICs need 200-277 V at 10-30 A each, hydro models usually 380-415 V three-phase and a cooling loop, and air-cooled units are too loud for a home. Set up a Fractal Bitcoin wallet, point the machine at a pool, and watch temperatures in the first days. If you don't have cheap power and space, hosting is the usual route: a host runs the machine for an all-in price per kWh. CryptoSites.io lists both powered sites and hosting.
