LBRY Credits ran the LBRY protocol for publishing and sharing content, the technology behind the Odysee video site. LBRY Inc. wound down in 2023 after a US SEC case; the chain keeps running, maintained by its community.

Questions

Mining this coin: FAQ

Is LBRY Credits mining profitable right now?

At 5¢/kWh the most profitable LBRY Credits miner today, the Goldshell LB Lite, earns about $15.88 a day and burns $1.74 of electricity, leaving about $14.14 a day. 3 of 3 LBRY miners we track are profitable at that price. Set your own power price above and the whole page recalculates.

What is the best miner for LBRY Credits?

Ranked by profit per day at 5¢/kWh: Goldshell LB Lite ($14.14/day, 1.62 TH/s at 1,450 W), Goldshell LB-BOX ($1.53/day, 175 GH/s at 162 W), Goldshell LB1 ($0.754/day, 87 GH/s at 80 W). The most efficient machine we track is the Goldshell LB Lite at 0.90 J/GH; cheap power favours raw hashrate, expensive power favours efficiency, so the order changes with your price.

At what electricity price does LBRY Credits mining stop paying?

At today's price and difficulty the Goldshell LB Lite breaks even at about 46¢ per kWh: above that it costs more to run than it earns. Pool fees (usually 1-4%), cooling and any hosting margin come on top, so plan with a buffer. Of the 3 machines we track, 3 are in profit at 3¢/kWh, 3 at 6¢ and 3 at 10¢, which is why miners chase cheap power.

How much LBC does one miner make per day?

The Goldshell LB Lite, at 1.62 TH/s, mines about 11,003 LBC a day today, worth $15.88. That is 5.8% of the network's 27.79 TH/s. The whole network mints about 182,250 LBC a day ($263.03), and every miner earns its share of hashrate. With one machine that big a slice, every machine added lowers what the others earn: this network can only absorb a handful.

Should I mine LBRY Credits solo or in a pool?

On its own, one Goldshell LB Lite would find a LBRY Credits block about once every hour on average, and luck can stretch that a long way. With blocks this frequent, even a single machine gets regular rewards; pools still smooth the payouts. FPPS and PPS+ pools pay a fixed amount per share (fees often 2-4%), PPLNS pools pay out only when the pool finds a block (often 0-2%, but lumpier).

How do LBRY Credits's block rewards and supply work?

Right now each block pays about 135.0 LBC including fees, with a block every 64 seconds on average, about 182,250 LBC a day. About 654.41 million LBC exist today and there is no hard cap.

What hardware mines LBRY, and what matters when buying?

The LBRY algorithm chains SHA-256, SHA-512 and RIPEMD-160. It is mined with small dedicated ASICs such as Goldshell's LB Box. We track 3 LBRY machines; judge them by J/GH (efficiency) against your power price, then by price per GH, cooling type and the warranty and repair options where you will run them.

Can I run a whole mining site on LBRY Credits?

Not on its own. LBRY Credits's whole network is about 27.79 TH/s, and one megawatt of Goldshell LB Lite units would add 1.12 PH/s, several times the network. Difficulty would jump and the earnings shown here would melt away. Large sites point their machines at the biggest coin for the algorithm and treat small coins like LBRY Credits as a side bet for a few units.

How do I start mining LBRY Credits?

Pick a machine for your power price (see the table above), then sort out power and cooling: most ASICs need 200-277 V at 10-30 A each, hydro models usually 380-415 V three-phase and a cooling loop, and air-cooled units are too loud for a home. Set up a LBRY Credits wallet, point the machine at a pool, and watch temperatures in the first days. If you don't have cheap power and space, hosting is the usual route: a host runs the machine for an all-in price per kWh. CryptoSites.io lists both powered sites and hosting.
